VA Claims Inventory Below
The VA Claims Inventory includes rating bundle disability compensation and pension claims that have been received by VBA that normally require development and a decision by a VBA claims processor. In other words its everything in process.
Per the VA, the VA claims inventory includes disability compensation and pension claims received by VA that normally require a rating decision. Commonly known as the rating bundle, this includes claims for disability compensation, dependency and indemnity compensation for survivors, and Veterans’ pension benefits, including both original and supplemental claims. Once VA decides a claim, it’s no longer in the claims inventory. If a Veteran appeals a benefits decision, the appealed claim is tracked separately.

The Current VA Claims Backlog
The VA Claims Backlog is a subset of the VBA Claims Inventory, the backlog number represents rating bundle claims that normally require a rating decision and have been pending for more than 125 days since receipt.
Per the VA’s website, the VA claims backlog includes rating bundle disability compensation and pension claims received by VA that normally require a rating decision. This claims bundle includes initial and supplemental claims for service-connected disabilities for Veterans and their survivors, Agent Orange-related claims, and pension claims for Veterans.
Once VA decides a claim, it’s no longer in the claims inventory. If a Veteran appeals a benefits decision, the appealed claim is tracked separately.
